Harry William Manchester enlisted in the Essex Scottish Regiment of the Canadian Army subsequent to the beginning of World War II on September 1, 1939. He received his basic military training at Camp Borden at St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, beginning shortly after September 10, 1939.
