Dear Franc:-
Was so glad to know that you received my first letter okay. I have been thinking that you should soon get one from me. I hope Onn. got one too for her birthday. I got a letter from her a couple days ago & she said then that would be the best present she could get. She hadn’t received any from up until that time yet.
“Well I just got finished pealing the pineapple for supper & I put the sugar on it. You didn’t have to send sugar as there is plenty of sugar yet.”

Editor’s Note
Unknown Artifact Original Date
The actual date of this artifact is unknown because the artifact itself is undated, and there is no accompanying envelope with postmarks. However, the artifact is believed to have been written Sunday, June 2, 1940. This date supposition is based on the timing of the departure of the “advance party” mentioned in Art_1940-06-01 (this artifact) and Art_1940-06-04.

Dear Frances:
Received your parcel
O.K. and also a letter Fri. & Sat. Thanks a lot for the dinner. It was
really swell. I just got the parcel about nine last night. I also got one from
Pearl’s sister. It was a big chocolate box full of date cake & some candy. Well
I had Marshall Healey over to our tent for dinner and of course I had Glen
piper stay is he and I are in the same tent. The chicken & dressing was
swell, but it is so warm in the day time I thought I’d better get it ate up.
